Folk On The Terrace - For Ukraine
Last summer, we had 2 fabulous afternoons of music on the terrace of the WSA. In August, we will have 2 more Sunday afternoons raising funds for Bob Frendt to bring a junior football team from Ukraine to play here in Yorkshire.
If the weather isn't kind, then we will move inside.
Wetherby Folk Club is proud to continue support the hard work and dedication by Bob Frendt in providing vital supplies to the poor innocent peoples of Vololdymyr. In addition to the 17 trips taking essential supplies and 2 fire engines to Ukraine, he has master-minded twinning Knaresborough with Volodymyr.
Bob's current passion is to bring a team of 15 junior footballers from a Sports School in Voldymyr for a break away from the everyday traumas and play football here in Yorkshire. The idea has now been approved by the Mayor and School there and will happen in summer next year.

The Janglebuddies
plus
A very special singing of the Ukraine National Anthem
We are delighted that The Janglebuddies will be entertaining us again with their distinctive style of multi-talent and humour.
Phil and Dickie are lifelong friends performing original and traditional songs and tunes in a variety of styles and moods. For many years they have delighted audiences equipped with guitars, Irish bouzouki, harmonium and percussion, they accompany themselves and their well-crafted harmonies to perform songs and music ranging from thoughtful to exuberant. They have regularly appeared on radio, including on the BBC.
We are absolutely delighted to have a Ukrainian singer now living in Harrogate, Josan Minmanero who will perform the Ukraine National Anthem which promises to be a very special moment!

Hazjak plus Anna Howells
Hazjak have delighted us at Wetherby at Thye Engine Shed and last year on The Terrace. Yorkshire duo Steve Chapman Smith and Lynne O'Malley play an eclectic style of Roots, Americana and Folk music performing a mix of covers, traditional and their own songs. Steve – vocals, guitar, banjo, bouzouki, bass and mandolin. Lynne – vocals, piano, tenor guitar, banjo, percussion, whistle and harmonica, and of course Hazjak's trademark harmonies.
Hazjak released their debut album “Listerville” in December 2020 to great critical acclaim, including a 4 star review in R and R magazine.
“A highly talented duo... Excellent songs, superb musicianship and harmonies in abundance” Tykes Stirrings, Spring 2021

Anna Howells: 'Call Me Anna's ' Irish roots, and time in Yorkshire orchestras and ensembles bring a unique quality to her work. Her songs are otherworldly and her clarinet brings a chamberesque flavour to her enchanting sense of melody. Most recently, 'Call Me Anna' was named one of the "Highly Recommended Artists" after being selected to perform on the Danny Kyle Open Stage at Celtic Connections in Glasgow.
Since its release on 15th November 2024, anna’s debut EP Fall of a Leaf has been played on BBC Radio 2 The Folk Show, Iain Anderson BBC Radio Scotland and Celtic Heartbeat BBC Radio Wales among others. The EP, produced by Boo Hewerdine and Chris Pepper at Saltwell Studio, was featured as EP of the Year (Best of 2024) by the David Dee Moore Radio Show.
