The Engine Shed

Let's finish the year with a party!

Gary Stewart's 'Graceland'

Gary Stewart is no stranger to Wetherby and makes a very welcome return with his brilliant 'Graceland' show. Last time, The Engine Shed was rocking with the audience dancing along.

Formed in 2016 to play Kate Rusby’s Underneath the Stars Festival, Gary Stewart’s Graceland are a seven-piece ensemble that faithfully recreate Paul Simon’s 1986 classic album in all its’ glory. With layers of guitars and percussion, bouncy accordion, vocal harmonies and many a bass solo, Gary and his band bring the South African rhythms and harmonies to life in concert halls and Festivals all around the U.K.

“Gary Stewart & his band masterfully recreated not just the sound of Paul Simon’s Graceland album but also the energy and soul that makes the original recording such a huge joy to listen to. An ambitious and wonderful feat to achieve in a live performance.” Underneath the Stars Festival

Jez Lowe

A welcome return of the award-winning songwriter novelist, and one of the busiest and most admired performers on the UK folk scene, Jez Lowe is celebrating forty five years as a touring singer, songwriter and musician. This time, Jez may have a bit of a festive flavour to his songs.

You may have heard Jez Lowe’s songs on albums by Fairport Convention, The Dubliners, The Unthanks, Wizz Jones, The Young Uns, Bob Fox, Liam Clancy and many, many more. Or maybe you’ve heard one of the fifty or more songs he wrote for the award-winning BBC Radio Two series “The Radio Ballads. Or perhaps you’ve heard one of Jez’s many albums, either solo, with his band The Bad Pennies or in his many collaborations with the likes of The Pitmen Poets. And no doubt many will have caught one of Jez’s solo shows in the UK, or on the many international tours across the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and mainland Europe. Jez has just released his fifteenth album of original songs entitled “Oubliette” and it’s already being heralded as a classic by folk radio presenters, reviewers and, most importantly, listeners all over the world.
