Merry Hell

with Reuben and The Bridge

(The Engine Shed)

It's our third birthday, so let's celebrate and have a party!

Wetherby Folk Club is delighted to welcome back the multi-award winning Merry Hell. They are an 8-piece band offering joyful, uplifting folk-rock, with a message for troubled times.  Their energy and passion is complimented by their love of what they do and desire to share hope and togetherness with as many people as are willing to listen

15 years together. 8 albums released.

100s of gigs played.

Don't just take our word for it, here is the review of Merry Hells last visit to Wetherby Folk Club...

2 x sets best described as a rollercoaster ride through some of the finest contemporary folk music currently being performed anywhere on the English folk festival (they have just played Cropredy don't you know) and folk club circuit. The state of the nation laid bare in rhyme, as for bare, the whole house sang out loud to bury me naked. Yes, they have their detractors, I've even heard the odd can't they leave the politics out of it and just sing, but hey this is the music of the people and mostly they are divided into those who love Merry Hell and those are yet to experience them live.

From the opening of the first set with 'We are different, we are one' and 'Ghost in my house' through to set conclusion, Virginia Kettle solo, with her guitar down amongst the packed house performing 'Violet' unplugged. Time for a quick pint then they were back at it with the 'Coming Home Song' a second blistering set, 'Loving the skin your in', drunken Serenade and of course 'Baker's daughter' included. The audience sang, waved their arms in the air and swayed. From start to finish the audience totally in the grip of Merry Hell.

Reuben and The Bridge

Any other time, Reuben and The Bridge would be our headline!

Having played at Wetherby before, who can forget their brilliant energetic version of 'The Devil Went Down To Georgia?'

They are a class act, fantastic folk fiddle and powerful vocals. Tasteful arrangements of quality repertoire for real music lovers.
